Cooling System Capacity Test

Procedure:

Obtain the chloride concentration of the recirculating water – Cl(initial)
Shut off the blowdown
Add a known amount of salt. At least 0.5 pounds per 1000 gallons estimated.
Test chloride concentration at 15 minute intervals until chloride peaks – Cl(final)
Resume normal blowdown
Use the following formula to calculate the system volume in gallons:

Capacity (1000 gallons) =	*72 pounds of salt**
	Cl(final) – Cl(initial)
