Content in gallons of varied sizes of pipes

A simple formula for arriving at the weight of water and / or gallons, in a cylindrical tank:-

Diameter in inches squared = 1 Lbs. Per running yard.

  One gallon of water  = 10 Lbs.

For example:

A tank 2 1/2 diameter by 6 high would equal 30 X 30.

=900 sq. ins.

=900 pounds per yd.

=900 X 2 (yds).

=1,800 pounds.

=180 gallons.
