PRODUCT USES:

Thermidaire Thermafilm 304 for the carbon dioxide corrosion in the Return Line is a complexes organic material. It is alkali by nature but it does not afford return line protection due to its alkalinity nor does it appreciably raise the pH of the return water. It is volatile and goes over with steam. When the steam condenses, and will afford greater heat transfer in the clarifiers, etc.

Thermidaire Thermafilm 304 also condenses and forms a colloidal suspension in the return Condensate. The particles in this colloidal suspension are positively charged with electricity and they are strongly attracted to the metal walls plating out on the, This action is very rapid due to the attraction of the positively charged particles to the negative or grounded type walls. They are held firmly here and will gradually creep under foreign matter such as oxide, scabs, etc. which will be freed and continue down the system. While this cleans the system out, it will increase the interior diameter of the pipe to its original size, if they have been partially blocked by corrosion products, thus giving better flow thorough them.

DOSAGES:

Thermidaire Thermafilm 304 treatment optimum level depends on factors such as the condensate pH and operating conditions.
Thermidaire Corporation should use Thermidaire Thermafilm 304 in accordance with the control procedures established for the specific systems. Thermidaire Thermafilm 304 should be diluted with 60-115⁰F-condensate water (preferably raw water), softened water. Feed water or boiler water should not be used for this purpose.

FEEDING:

Thermidaire Thermafilm 304 can be fed into the boiler through the feed water line, the boiler drum the condensate return tank or through the steam header. Continuous feed into the steam line is desired but shot feeding is acceptable where the make-up requirements are less than 20%. The injection into the teed water or boiler water is acceptable in certain circumstances Thermafilm 304 should not be mixed with other treating chemicals in the same feed tank or with water which has a pH level above 9.0

HANDLING:

Thermidaire Thermafilm 304 is mildly alkaline and thus is a skin and eye irritant. In some people it may cause sensitization and allergic reactions. However, care should be taken as with all other industrial chemicals. Prolonged exposure can cause eye and respiratory tract damage. Harmful is swallowed or inhaled. Avoid contact with clothing, eyes and skin, should contact occur, flush immediately with plenty of fresh water. If discomfort persists, seek medical attention. Do not take internally. Wear protective clothing, safety shoes, glasses, goggles keep out of ignition sources. Store in a cool, dry and well-ventilated places. Keep container tightly closed. Wash thoroughly after handling.

SPILL:  Wipe spillage with rags and carefully dispose, flush area to drain with plenty of water. Observe local disposal regulation.
